These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Piggy mobile application and website (together, the “Service”), operated by Piggy (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use Piggy. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.
2. Description of Service
Piggy is a personal finance app that lets you link your bank accounts (via Plaid) to track spending, budgets, net worth, subscriptions, and account alerts, and includes an AI assistant (“Ask Piggy”) that can answer questions about your linked financial data.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.
A dashboard can be a Personal Dashboard (your own finances) or a Managed Dashboard (used to help manage someone else’s finances, such as a family member). Anyone you invite to a Managed Dashboard will have full access to all of its financial data. You are responsible for who you invite.
4. Subscriptions and Billing
Creating a dashboard requires an active Piggy subscription. Subscriptions automatically renew until canceled. If you subscribe through the Apple App Store, billing, renewal, and cancellation are handled by Apple and subject to Apple’s terms and refund policies. If you subscribe through our website, billing is handled by our payment processor and you may cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
If your subscription lapses, we will disconnect any linked bank accounts on the affected dashboard and restrict access to it until you resubscribe. We do not delete your historical data solely because your subscription lapsed, but access is locked until resubscription.
5. Linking Financial Accounts
Piggy uses Plaid to connect to your bank and financial accounts. When you link an account, you authorize Piggy, through Plaid, to access and retrieve your financial information as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the accuracy of the accounts you link and for ensuring you have the right to share that financial information with us. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or completeness of data provided by Plaid or your financial institution.
6. Ask Piggy and AI Features
Ask Piggy and any other AI-powered features are provided for informational and convenience purposes only. They are not financial, legal, tax, or investment advice, and Piggy is not a licensed financial advisor. AI-generated responses may be inaccurate or incomplete. You should independently verify any information before making financial decisions based on it, and consult a qualified professional for advice specific to your situation.
7. Fraud and Anomaly Alerts
Piggy’s alerts (for example, high-amount charges, low balances, or suspicious activity) are automated and provided on a best-effort basis. They are not a substitute for monitoring your accounts directly with your bank, and we do not guarantee that Piggy will detect every instance of fraud, error, or unusual activity.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its underlying systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Use the Service to access financial accounts you are not authorized to access
- Resell, sublicense, or provide access to the Service to anyone outside your household or managed dashboard members without our consent
9. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, branding, and underlying software, is owned by Piggy and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT FINANCIAL DATA DISPLAYED WILL ALWAYS BE ACCURATE OR CURRENT.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PIGGY AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR FINANCIAL LOSS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent or unlawful activity, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Colorado, without regard to its conflict of law principles, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
